Preparing to live a life that makes a difference here and around the world

"A year on an Encounter Team will hold some of the most memorable and spiritually foundational experiences of your life."

- Ardy Parlin, Founder & Director

Would you like to be part of a team that is committed to spiritual growth and impacting the world for eternity? The Encounter Leadership Center is the place for you. During a year of training and ministry, you will experience the following.

PRACTICAL TEACHING
The classes you will take will have a heavy concentration on life management, Christian leadership, Bible doctrine, and character development.

PRACTICAL EXPERIENCES
After a time of training and preparation, you will have the opportunity to minister in a variety of settings. Church, school, camp, and cross-cultural missions are areas of ministry you will experience at the Encounter Leadership Center. Depending on your area of giftedness, your involvement in these ministries will include music, drama, leading small group discussions, teaching children and teens, utilizing technology and equipment, and coordinating logistics.

While you will receive grades for the courses you take with Encounter and several Christian colleges will accept your credits from ELC, the courses are designed to be practical and applicable to daily living.

Considerations for the Encounter Leadership Center

COMMITMENT
August 17, 2019 is the day that training camp begins for the ELC. The commitment for a team member is one year in length. Team members will have times of vacation around the Christmas holiday and prior to our summer camp ministry.

FINANCIAL
Team members at the Encounter Leadership Center have the opportunity to trust God to provide the finances for the year of ministry training and service. Here are financial considerations for 2019-2020. $1,000 for a training camp fee and $350 per month for the 12 month experience. Included in these costs are room and board, team clothes for ministry, and materials for courses. The cross-cultural missions trip is an additional cost. Depending on the location, you can expect the cost to be $2,000-$4,000. Encounter will provide instruction to assist team members with communicating the support goals.

LIVING
Team members will live in dormitory-style housing at the headquarters of Encounter in Harrisburg, PA. While some traveling will be involved, the team will be in Harrisburg the majority of the time.

Revival Meetings - Churches and Schools

Revival is a spiritual work of the Lord and cannot be arranged by man. Encounter Revival Ministries offers week-long meetings of spiritual emphasis that help provide believers and new-comers with a time for concentrated focus on the teachings of the Bible, allowing extended time in one's life to seek the face of God and allow Him to provide revival.

Our goals in coming to your church or school are:

  • To share the truths of spiritual awakening, renewal and vitality through the clear and practical teaching of the Word of God.

  • To uplift the soul through music that glorifies God, touches the heart and motivates the listener to respond in obedience to God.

  • To encourage believers to honestly examine their lives and obediently deal with any sin that God exposes for cleansing and victory.

  • To provide teaching and applications that strengthen the home and family.

  • To bring believers together in the unity of the local church for greater impact in the community.

  • To assist believers in establishing spiritual disciplines necessary for spiritual growth and usefulness.

  • To share the good news of Jesus Christ to those who do not know Him.

Revival is a renewed conviction of sin and repentance, followed by an intense desire to live in obedience to God. It is giving up one’s will to God in deep humility.

World Missions

India - Banjara Tribal Ministries

Pure religion is to visit the fatherless and the widows (James 1:27). It is our joy to have a very active role in this commission since we were exposed to the work of Christopher Boda and Banjara Tribal Ministries (BTM) in 2003. At any moment, BTM is caring for thousands of orphans and abandoned children in Hyderabad, India across multiple campuses. The provision of the children's meals, clothing and education is a day-to-day need that we have seen God provide through his people for years. BTM has remained deeply faithful to it's calling to care for abandoned boys and girls in India and disciple them to spread the Gospel throughout their own country.

Zambia - African Encounter Team

In 2005, during the Encounter Team's annual missions trip, we became acquainted with a Zambian national named Leonard Bwalya who, inspired by our young singers, began his own team of young adults. Lined up and singing the message of God’s truth to us, we were introduced to the African Encounter Team (AERM). As we saw the potential for great evangelism in Zambia through this team of young Zambians, Encounter began supporting AERM by helping provide funds, training and discipleship materials.

AERM now cares for a 40 acre farm property that provides camp activities and evangelism, as well as food, for local villages. They are also strongly invested in caring for orphans, distributing evangelistic materials and disciplining local pastors.

Myanmar

In 2009, Encounter began supporting a native missionary in Myanmar by the name of Pastor James. His ministry to his home country is spreading the Gospel in a predominantly Buddhist environment. Pastor James is also very committed to caring for orphans, often sharing his own home to give them shelter, planting churches, and developing farms to provide food for villagers. We are blessed to be a part of a faithful ministry in Myanmar, reaching people for Christ in far away places.

Summer camp ministry

Mt. Lou San Bible Camp serves as the national headquarters of Encounter Revival Ministries. From this location in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Encounter operates its discipleship program for the Encounter Team, as well as its ongoing ministry as a summer camp and retreat center.

A week at summer camp with us is a life-changing adventure filled with awesome activities and spiritual growth.

Mt. Lou San Bible Camp services hundreds of children, teens and adults each year. Here are 5 reasons to use Mt. Lou San for your summer camp needs!
