Proverbs 25:28

Making Right Decisions is Important

These children in Zambia are being taught the importance of making right decisions based on the Word of God and from a life under control.  Many times decisions and choices are made that do not reflect wisdom, good sense, and self-control.

It is the way of human thinking and reasoning to blame others when we encounter problems instead of taking personal responsibility.  The Apostle Paul in I Corinthians 9:24-27 reminds us that the matter of personal responsibility in living and making choices is very important.  God has promised to give wisdom, strength, and grace for every situation in life.  However, it is our personal responsibility to respond with right thinking, good sense, and Biblical obedience.

Self-control is saying and doing that which is right, best, pleasing to God, and brings joy while anchored in the Word of God and lived out with self-control to honor our Lord.  (I Corinthians 10:31)

Refreshing the Soul

In the hurry and rush of life to get more things done, our soul often becomes confused and burdened.  What we need is a refreshing time to see God again.

Listening to the old hymns "How Great Thou Art" or "Great is Thy Faithfulness" would do much to slow down the anxious thoughts of another day.  It is along with the pressures of everyday life, being confronted with choices and decisions, and climbing mountains that the soul becomes burdened and worried.

It is the midst of all this that we need the “peace of God” to flood our pressured soul.  The Apostle Paul, in Philippians 4:4-7, gives instructions that will change the wearied soul.

  1. Rejoice in the Lord
  2. Be gentle and kind to everyone
  3. Don’t be overcome with worry
  4. Pray about everything

And the “Peace of God” will keep your heart...

Waiting before God and reflecting on His goodness refreshes the soul.  If we do not allow the work of God in the “inner person,” worry and pressures of life will consume us and lead to sins.
