Isaiah 58:1-14

Caring and Sharing

Multitudes of children around the world are left with no parental figure to provide or care for them.  It is the great blessing of God’s people to recognize the needs of these children and share of their blessings.  We often continue our spiritual exercises but only for selfish reasons.  As scriptures instruct, it is the great challenge and opportunity of believers to be the hand of God to share, provide, and care for the needy and abandoned children of the world.

The great joy of investing in a life of neglect and poverty is available to all who will share.  Instead of spending excessive funds on things we do not really need, it is our great challenge to open our eyes and hands to the multitudes of needy children here and around the world.

Jesus said “let the children come to me” which reminds us of the importance and value of a child.  It is a great blessing to be a part of a lonely and rejected child that sees nothing but poverty and despair.  We must be careful not to miss out on the great joy of investing in others. Many a child awaits the nourishment of a caring and sensitive person.

“Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.”  James 1:27

Caring and Sharing

It is a great joy to share with those who are in need and to be an instrument in God’s hand to help someone.  However, many times we are so consumed with our own wants, needs, and desires that sharing with others is not even a thought.  Gathering things for ourselves, we hurriedly pass by those that God would have us help.

Each day we should be alert to the leading of God to share with others. Great blessings come when we are an instrument in the hand of God to show His love and concern for those in need.  One of the great teachings of Scripture is being a good steward of what God has given, since “every good and perfect gift is from God.”  Generally the path of life encounters different people each day, and we should be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit in our daily walk lest we miss out on opportunities to bless those in need.

Being an instrument in God’s hand to help others brings great joy to the soul and makes a great difference to those in need.
