I Corinthians 13:4-5

Honoring Others

It is always a joy to see people smiling, and our conversation should bring a happy reaction from others as seen on the faces of these children from Myanmar.

However, many times this is not the case.  Sharing hurtful and negative things about others often slips off one’s lips freely.  Often couched in the idea of "something that needs to be shared,” words of gossip injure and malign the character of another.  Multiple times in the scriptures we are warned about checking our words and even the motives for our conversation.

Gossip is like a dreaded disease that destroys the life.  Yes, we surely should pray for others and be concerned about their needs and problems, but it behooves us to be very careful what we communicate about others.

Better to remain silent than to share words that are hurtful and destructive to another.

Someone has well said, “If they gossip to you, then they will eventually gossip about you.”
