How’s Your Heart?

Proverbs 4:23, Mark 7:21-23

Our heart is the control center of life, and the believer must be concerned about the cultivation of heart that is set on following the Lord.  It is easy for one’s heart to get out of tune to the will and ways of God and become focused on serving self and worldly desires.  God designed our innermost being as the action center of our life and desires that it is set on serving and obeying His Word.

Jesus warned the Pharisees that it was not what goes into a person that defiles them but what is in the heart that corrupts.  So the problem is the heart.  We must be careful and, selective on what we allow to enter and stay in our mind/heart and guard it with all diligence.  Our thoughts, desires, intentions and motives held in the heart are of significant importance.  Such things as bitterness, unforgiveness, anger, and revenge kept in one’s heart corrupt and pollute the heart so actions, words, and desires are the results of what is in the heart.

It is wise and Scriptural to check the heart often for that which is contrary to God’s Word and obediently deal with these matters lest our life is contaminated by what is in the heart. (II Corinthians 7:1)

So how’s your heart?
