Getting Along with Others

Romans 12:3-21

Each day we interact with many people, and often things are said and done that cause conflict, hurt, and trouble.  However, we are instructed in Scripture (Matthew 5:43-44) to exercise love and concern even to the people that cause us problems.

One of the great signs of God’s working in our life is in how we get along with others day after day.  The responses of anger, revenge, bitterness, and gossip are not the responses of an obedient believer.  It is the joy and responsibility of the follower of Christ to “put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof.” Romans 13:14

We are reminded in the passage for today to be:

  1. Humble
  2. Understanding
  3. Kind
  4. Loving
  5. Joyful
  6. Giving
  7. Not conceited
  8. Forgiving
  9. Patient

It is in the power of our Lord working in and through us that gives strength and blessing to respond correctly and get along with others.  Remember, “The devil’s strategy has always been to divide and conquer, whether it is in churches, marriages or minds.” (Peter Lord)
