The Great Obstacle

I Thessalonians 5:18, Matthew 6:25-34, Proverbs 3:5-6

It is true that we enjoy many things that should bring joy and thanksgiving.  However, we are often held in the grip of worry and fear so that a thankful spirit is choked out.  The problems, pain, fears, and doubts of life can overshadow our life so that a thankful spirit is not demonstrated.  We choose to focus on the difficulties rather than the blessings.  This focus then keeps one from seeing the blessings and good things of life.

It is a matter of choice (Proverbs 1:29).  Where we choose to set our focus and mind sets the daily course of life.  We must choose to:

  1. Give thanks (I Thessalonians 5:18)
  2. Commit all to God (Proverbs 16:3)
  3. Trust God (Proverbs 3:5-6)
  4. Cultivate a merry heart (Proverbs 17:22)
  5. See God working in each event of our life (Romans 8:28)
  6. Live and move on in victory and joy (II Corinthians 4:1-7)
  7. Prevent the obstacles of worry, fear, and frustration from rejoicing in the blessings of God. (Philippians 4:4)

Today we must choose to focus on the goodness, blessings, and gifts of God (James 1:17) and “brighten the corner where we are.”
