Ephesians 5:15-21, II Corinthians 10:5, Philippians 4:8
Many will come to this well in Zambia, Africa for fresh and clean water. They will drop the bucket down into the well and live from the water in the bucket.
The human mind and heart are like this bucket and are filled with thoughts, ideas, desires, challenges, blessings, and much more. It is out of this “bucket” that one’s life will flow today. Take a few moments to think through what you have in your bucket as daily living is affected by our health, people, problems, blessings, projects ,and challenges of each day. Also in our bucket may be thoughts of bitterness, unforgiveness, revenge, and the like. All of these things will have an impact on life today so it is vitally important to . . .
- Give thanks to God (Ps 100)
- Confess sins of wrong and sinful thoughts (II Corinthians 10:5)
- Ask God for wisdom and understanding in all things (Proverbs 3:5-6)
- Determine to rejoice and be happy in the Lord (Philippians 4:4)
How we react and respond to people and situations each day is determined by the tone of our heart and mind or what is in our “bucket.” So it is important to set our heart, mind, desires, and intentions on God’s Word and His ways. Does this mean all of our problems and challenges will go away? No, but we can have a good and right attitude toward life as we are careful what is in our “bucket.”
