Mark 7:14-23, Proverbs 4:23, Philippians 4:8, II Corinthians 10:5
We are often reminded that what we eat makes a great difference in how we feel and act. These children in Zambia are enjoying a well-balanced meal to give them physical strength. Being cautious about what one eats is wise but also being cautious about what we think is also of great importance.
The mind is a great and complex creation of God that stores thoughts, ideas, pictures, plans, and much more. In our Scripture for today, we are reminded that what we allow to enter and stay in our mind is of extreme importance. What enters the mind and feeds the heart (inner person) directs, guides, and controls our life.
Check out Matthew 12:34 as we are reminded that the words we speak are prepared in the heart. So it is of the utmost importance that one “guards the mind.” Often people are very selective and careful about the ingredients they purchase for their pets but are careless about the thoughts they allow to enter and stay in their mind. We must be careful to heed the warnings of Scripture to be selective and wise in our thoughts. (Proverbs 23:7)
