Rest for the Soul

Psalm 23:1-6, I Corinthians 6:8, Matthew 11:29-30, Jeremiah 6:16

In the hurry and pressures of life, one must be careful to take time regularly to refresh the soul, mind, spirit, and inner person.  Humanly we just take on more tasks, run from one event to the next, and in so doing the “inner person” is overwhelmed.

It is good to regularly stop and let your soul catch up and rest by:

  1. Quietly waiting in the presence of God. (Isaiah 40:31)
  2. Meditating in and on the Word of God. (Psalm 1:3)
  3. Listening to soul-ministering, spiritual music of worship and praise

It is important to establish the habit of coming apart to rest and reflect before you actually do come apart.  You may want to get a hymn book and read through the words of such hymns as: I Come to the Garden Alone, What a Friend We Have in Jesus or Day by Day.  Just reading and meditating on these great truths will refresh your soul.
