Colossians 3:1-7, II Corinthians 7:1, Romans 6:11-14
One of the great dangers in life is drifting away from the Word and ways of God. Each day we are involved in a multitude of things, and it is easy to slip away from obedience to the Word of God in seemingly small areas. This drifting easily occurs in “small” areas which are hardly noticed, but these “little” sins lead one on a downhill slide away from the Word. It is easy then to ignore, rationalize, and justify our “little” sins of drifting. The drifting from truth leads eventually to regret, sorrow, and bondage.
It is always a blessed exercise to check one’s life, thoughts, habits, conduct, words, and life in general to see if we are drifting from the truths of Scripture. It is not a matter of being “perfect,” for no one is perfect. What we are checking for is “obedience” to the Word of God (I Samuel 15:22). It is much better to discern an area where we are drifting form Biblical truth before the drifting leads to trouble and disaster.
