What’s in Your Bucket?

Around the world today, people will line up to fill their water buckets with good and safe drinking water. Many will pass by contaminated and polluted water to find a good source of water for their daily needs.

It is vitally important that the believer takes time daily to fill their “inner bucket” with the truths, warnings, promises, and wisdom of God’s Word.  What we put in our heart and mind makes all the difference as to what happens in our life each day.  One must exercise great caution where they fill the bucket of their inner person.  Just as contaminated water brings sickness to the physical, so does pollution of the inner person bring spiritual sickness to one’s life.  Great caution must be exercised each day as to what we put into our “inner person.”  Some choose to stop by the well of grumbling, discontentment, anger, and despair to fill their life bucket which then contaminates their life. Others may fill their life bucket with the philosophies and pleasures of the world.

Better to take time and fill our inner bucket at the well of life found in the Word of God.  Filling our life bucket with the joy of the Lord and the wisdom of the Word of God makes for a refreshing life flowing out of one’s life. (John 7:38)

“Our soul is like an inner stream of water, which gives strength, direction, and harmony to every other element of our life.  When that stream is as it should be, we are constantly refreshed and exuberant in all we do because our soul itself is deeply rooted in the vastness of God and His kingdom.” Dallas Willard
