Fruit on Your “Life-Tree”

One of the subjects of importance to these pastors in Zambia, Africa is the matter of seeing the evidence of God working in their life.  The work and presence of God should be seen in the believer’s life daily.  It is God’s desire to show His grace, power, presence, and desires through the life of each Christian.  John 7:38 refers to this as “rivers of living water” flowing out of one’s life.  The work of God and the changes He is making in each believer should be evident in words, conduct, and the responses to people and situations.

In John 15:1-17 we are reminded that this is not possible unless we “abide” in Him and the Word “abides” in us.  Real fruit of God’s presence and power requires time in the Word as well as obedience to the Word.  Psalm 1:1-3 instructs that we “meditate” in the Word day and night.

As the gardener checks his garden carefully each day, we too should check our life for the evidence of our obedience to God and His Word. The Apostle Paul writes, “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels that the excellency of the power may be of God and not of us.”  II Corinthians 4:7
