What’s on Your Mind Matters

We must never ignore the fact that the thoughts we focus on and keep in our minds make a great difference in the way we live, talk, and behave.  Scriptures are very clear that thoughts direct our emotions, desires, attitudes, and conduct in general. (Matthew 12:34-35)

Just as we heed the warning signs while driving down the highway, we must exercise great caution in the thoughts that we entertain and allow to stay in our mind.

We can adjust our thoughts by:
1.  Being thankful (I Thessalonians 5:18)
2.  Focusing in and on the Word of God (Psalm 119:11)
3.  Confessing sins of wrong thoughts (I John 1:9)
4.  Feeding our mind good and godly thoughts (Colossians 3:2-4)
5.  Guarding our mind (Proverbs 4:23)

A wise person has said that “every path has a destination” and that is true with thoughts as well.  Thinking wrong, unkind, sinful, or depressing thoughts will lead to a destination of regret and bondage.  We must obey the Lord, guard our mind, and keep our thoughts focused on that which is good, God-honoring, and wise.  I Corinthians 10:31
