Many athletes have started the competition very strong, but somewhere in the course of the event, they made a decision that changed the outcome drastically.
Starting well is good, but keeping focused and finishing well are of utmost importance. This is not only true in athletic competition but also in our daily life. Our goal is to finish strong, but we are reminded in the Word that Satan, our enemy, does not want this to happen. (Ephesians 6:10-18). Therefore, we must keep our heart/mind/life centered on our Lord and His Word every day for guidance, wisdom, and protection from the traps and fleshly influences that we encounter.
No one sets out to hurt others and ruin their life, but many do so. It is in the daily events of life that we must be careful, cautious, and alert so that we can “finish our course with joy.” We must never forget that every “choice has a consequence” and “every path has a destination” and “whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”
