Pay Attention

Just as these students at BTM in India are paying attention to all that is happening in the classroom, we must pay close attention to all that enters our heart and mind.

The apostle Paul reminds us in Ephesians 6 that we are in a daily battle, and our goal should be to live godly in this present world.  The tricks and schemes of the enemy generally do not come in obvious and open matters.  This is why we are warned in the Word to “guard the heart.”  It is when small concessions to sin and thoughts of fleshly pleasures enter the mind/heart that the life door opens to regret and bondage.

The alert believer must pay attention and guard the heart lest the process of drifting away from the truths and disciplines of Scripture is set into progress.  Almost unknowingly this “little” thought or sin begins to grow and consume the life.  This gradual allure, if not stopped, leads to a life of disaster and ruin in the trap of the enemy.

“A little indulgence here or there is tolerable enough to excuse without bombarding ourselves with guilt. Slowly but surely, each little departure takes us further and further away from the purity of heart that God intends for us.”  Tim LaHaye
