Impacting and Influencing Others

Each day we have many opportunities to interact with others to encourage, lift, and help.

However, we must be cautious about our thoughts and the words that we speak, or in other words, our attitude. Proverbs 4:23 reminds us that the heart must be guarded constantly.  It is guarding the heart and bringing out all thoughts into obedience to Christ that is then reflected in our attitude.  Attitude is our heart and mind on display for all to see.  To have an attitude that influences others in a way that is pleasing to our Lord, we must be careful about our thoughts and words.

In Philippians 4:8, the Apostle Paul instructs us to think on the right things.  It is when we are thinking on right, good, and godly things that our words, conduct, and behavior are pleasing to the Lord and our impact on others is beneficial.

On our life journey today we will have many opportunities to influence others.  The interactions with others will be helpful, encouraging, and pleasing to our Lord or unpleasant, distracting, and unpleasant.  It all centers on what is in our heart/inner person and the words that we speak.  Reduced down to one word, attitude makes the difference.

“That which holds our attention determines our actions…and the way we think determines our attitudes. The good news is that you and I can change that.  You can control your thoughts, and because of that, you can control your attitude.” John Maxwell
